Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: Burt’s Bees Iconic Beeswax Lip Balm Tin
Who wouldn’t love to find one of these in the toe of a stocking on Christmas Day? And when Burt’s Bees say ‘iconic’, that’s truly the case: this recyclable aluminium tin has been around since 1991, in various incarnations, showcasing one of the original products in the range.
And yes, there really was a Burt, and he really did keep bees. In fact, we thought we’d repeat the story, because it’s a reminder that from tiny beginnings, global beauty brands can grow. ‘Burt and his bees are just the start of an incredible journey that began in 1984. Burt Shavitz met co-founder Roxanne Quimby whilst she was hitchhiking in Maine', they instantly hit it off and valued a connection to nature and a simple lifestyle that was low-impact, socially and environmentally conscious. In 1991, using a trusty recipe from a farmer’s almanac, Roxanne turned Burt’s left-over beeswax into a nourishing lip balm.’
This 100% natural product really hasn’t changed since then: still absolutely brilliant for lips, with a blend that includes beeswax, vitamin E and some peppermint oil. Lipsmackingly lovely, actually.
This new design for Burt’s Bees Iconic Beeswax Lip Balm Tin is an evolution from the previous yellow designs, and so jolly reasonable. If you’re not already sorted on that front, it’s Secret Santa-priced and nobody, but nobody, would be disappointed.
