A perfect it’s-a-long-time-till payday lip treat, this.

Barry M Sheer Splash Moisturising Tinted Lip Balm delivers a sheer wash of colour, in four very wearable shades (all of which look much more natural on lips than in the tube). Choose from transparent true red (Strawberry Soak), perfect berry (Mulberry Mist), deep wine (Dewberry Drench). We’ve tried ’em all, and are hard-pressed to choose between them. (There’s apparently a fourth, raspberry shade, but it seems to be out of stock.)

They don’t exactly DRENCH lips with lashings of moisture, but there are enough emollient ingredients for comfort, via a touch of shea butter, avocado oil and sunflower seed oil, among the synthetic ingredients. All round, decent staying power, too.

A downside of lip products as inexpensive as this is sometimes a strong fruity flavour – but here, it’s subtly rosy and rally quite nice.

And honestly, you could treat yourself to all three for much less than the price of one make-up artist’s tinted lip balm. Nothing not to love about that.
