Tip of the Day: 13.01.16
Don’t battle with sleep. It’ll only wake you up further. Imagine the battle as a tug of war, explains Dr. Guy Meadows of The Sleep School. ‘Sleeplessness tugs on the rope and you tug back with the props you think will fix the problem – alcohol, listening to the radio, a warm bath. While a wind-down routine is a good idea and some props can be good for you, becoming too reliant on them breeds sleep inflexibility. Only by adopting an accepting attitude to wakefulness (letting go of the rope) can you bring the mental and physical peace that allows sleep to emerge naturally.’
