'Winged' eyeliner is fashionable - but it can make your eyes look smaller.  Make-up artist Jillian Dempsey recommends tracing upper lashes with a black kohl pencil, instead, and running your finger over the line to diffuse.  Extend just past the outer corner, for a look that's just as dramatic - but softer and sexier.
