Never use metal implements on nails. Leave cuticle nippers to the professionals, and file with a ‘bendy’ nail file. (In a broken nail emergency, you can clip the nail down.) If you’re still using a metal nail file, ditch it this minute – and switch to a soft, springy emery board.
