The Gentleman Floris

What is the smell of your Dad…? For Jo (and many others), it’s the scent of Floris. Grooming emporia may be popping up all over the place, but this heritage perfume house (on London’s Jermyn Street) is still our top destination for soaps, splashes and all the accoutrements associated with shaving. (It’s also where we stock up on Floris Rose Geranium Bath Oil – loved by none other than Marilyn Monroe. And if it’s good enough for Marilyn…) With Father’s Day approaching, you might want to check out Floris’s really quite sprauncy men’s grooming range, The Gentleman Floris. There’s everything, now, from Face Wash to Eye Cream via Face Scrub, Shaving Oil and a Daily Facial Moisturiser.

There’s a special place in our hearts, though, for the Shaving Soap and Bowl – pure nostalgia for us, with memories of a pa lathering up and applying with a special brush.

The products are fragranced with Floris No.89 – a comfortingly dad-like scent that's been in the collection for over 60 years (taking its name from Floris's number on Jermyn Street), spicy with nutmeg, with lots of woodsy cedarwood, sandalwood and vetiver, and the merest whiff of flowers at the heart.

What can we say? Father's Day beckons.
