Beauty Bible Summer Sun Special: SPF Lips
Lips are incredibly vulnerable to sun damage, being perfectly 'angled' for UV rays to strike. The good news, though, is that excellent lip protective products abound. The catch? You've got to reapply regularly, because simply licking lips – never mind tucking into a delicious lolly or ice cream – removes the product. Keep these in your handbag, then, and replenish after a coffee or a meal. Our shortlist was based on trying dozens of products for YOU Magazine's Summer Sun Special. (Believe us: if we weren't experts before that, we certainly are now!)
Kiko Kiss Balm Coconut SPF15/£5.90 - in seven fruity-fragrant luminous sheer shades, this Japanese bran offers soothing moisturisation with a useful SPF.
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15/£19 - this nourishing, citrus-scented mostly natural formula, in a bevy of luscious shades, blends oils and waxes with sugar, a natural humectant.
ILIA Beauty Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF15/£22 - in Bombora Warm Red (for brunettes) and Kokomo Soft Mauve (for blondes and grey), these sheer lippies blend softening butters, antioxidant oils, natural pigments and zinc oxide as a sun screen.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Nourishing Lip Balm SPF20/£20 - fans of Eight Hour Cream are going to love this beautifully slickable version, which features a jolly useful SPF20 and leaves lips with a lovely shine.
Fresh Sugar Sport Treatment SPF30/£20 - we love the fact that this excellent lip balm can be slicked onto other bits (we won't be exposing our nipples, but you might be – and it is good for noses, too!)
L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime Broad Spectrum SPF25 Tinted Lip Balm/£12 – we have long loved the Pivoile (it's French for peony) moisturising range from L'Occitane, and this nourishing lip balm is a gorgeous, suits-all-skintones Rose Amber shade of sheerness.
