Sarah loves... Summer 2019
Each season, we like to share with you some of the favourite products that Beauty Bible’s team has introduced to our own beauty routines from the countless products that cross our desk. Here are Sarah Stacey’s current favourites:
Innersense Organic Beauty hair products for coloured hair
Back in the day, truly natural/organic hair care used to be virtuous but a compromise on effectiveness and pleasure. Now there’s a fantastic choice of really excellent products. For my long thick coloured mane, Innersense currently romps in at the top with a basket of botanicals such as coconut and pumpkin seed oils, shea butter and other nourishing plant ingredients.
The Color Awakening Hairbath/from £9 for 2oz sample size, does just that; hair shines and highlights sparkle. I routinely use the Color Radiance Daily Conditioner, also in a 2oz sample size for £9, (though not every day as drying and styling my hair every day would drive me bonkers). When my hair’s seriously dry and sad, the Hydrating Hair Masque is simply magic/£28 for 118ml.

Bioderma Tinted Aquafluid Photoderm MAX SPF50+
I actually use this tinted sunscreen as a moisturiser for everyday wear. It lasts all day and evening trotting round town but usual rules apply if you’re using it as a sun prep: i.e. re-apply frequently, and always after swimming.
This evens out my skin tone and gives it a bit of a golden glow. The blurb boasts that it gives a ‘gorgeous matte finish’, which it does after a few minutes so don't fret if it looks almost dewy wet at first, especially if you use it over an HA serum as I do.
The high sun protection makes it good for very fair, sensitive or ageing skin, or if you’ve been using any sort of peel. But it’s apparently suitable for all skin types, even combination or oily. It comes in Clear, Light and Golden.

Clinique Dramatically Different Lipstick (28 Romanticise)
Even if you tend to neutrals and naturals as I do, a bold bright summer lippy can really perk up your look. When I wore this vivid, almost Schiaparelli Shocking pink recently, a girlfriend (okay an opera singer so into a bit of drama…) told me it looked gorgeous and I must wear brights more often. The other thing I really like about this particular Clinique lipstick is that it lasts well and, even when it’s fading, leaves a stain of colour. Since I sometimes have pale lips (down to occasional borderline anaemia), this is A Good Thing! If your lips are dry, do prep them first; see Beauty Clinic for more tips.

Perricone MD No Makeup Eyeshadow
What!! I hear you splutter… all that money for a little pot of uninteresting-looking fluid. Well, yes, and trust me - if your purse can stretch and your eyelids are less than smooth and even-coloured - it could be a good investment. Plus that teeny pot will last for years, decades probably. So, you apply a couple of drops with the little doe foot applicator, smudge it with a finger (or a brush) and your eyelids look perfectly smooth and uniform with a hint of brightness. And somehow that makes your eyes look much softer and clearer, a little bit more defined. You can leave it at that or treat the product as a primer to help your eye make up last and stay crease-proof. There’s a whole range of No Makeup from this legendary derm brand, including an SPF20 Concealer and a really fab Foundation Serum, again SPF20. Sheer genius.

4711 Original Eau de Cologne
Two things to help keep you feeling fresh(er) in this heat wave – an old-fashioned fan and a splash of No. 4711, the original eau de Cologne, created in the 18th century in Cologne, Germany. For many of us there’s a delightful nostalgia in seeing the iconic gold and turquoise label; I remember it on my mother’s and grandmother’s dressing tables along with their more expensive evening scents. But this unisex fragrance is as deliciously light and refreshing as ever, with its bouquet of botanicals – lemon, orange and bergamot to perk up the senses, lavender and rosemary to soothe and relax, with a base note of calming neroli. So, splish, splash, splosh on the 4711!
