Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch
One thing we’ve learned in our years of beauty editing is that while OD-ing on shimmer is ageing, so is a too-matte, too-flat face. At risk of heading straight for Private Eye’s Pseud’s Corner, we like to think of what the portraitist John Singer Sargent did with light and shade: literally a dab of white paint here or there brought his paintings ‘alive’. That’s just what this little tube of shimmer does, for a face. All you need – and we mean this – is the teensiest, teensiest dab. On the inner eye. And/or the brow-bone. Perhaps the cupid’s bow. But it really delivers a very flattering radiance that is especially becoming in low light levels – candlelight, or party lighting – making it the perfect choice for this time of year.
We like the fact that it’s a cream-to-powder texture – Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch doesn’t have a ‘Cinderella moment’ half-way through the evening, unlike some powders. And it comes in a choice of two shades: we prefer the warm-toned 004 Shimmering Sand to the slightly pink-y 002 Radiant Rose.
A wee glimmer of gorgeousness, we say.
