Purdy & Figg Wild Woody Hand Sanitiser Spray

Hand sanitisers have become part of life in the past year. But they are not all created equal – and indeed, they are not all created equally lovely.

But this is. Honestly, lovely. Yes, you still get an alcohol hit – it meets the WHO benchmark for effectiveness, at 70% alcohol – but the blend of essential oils that fragrance the product is simply fab. There are several variants of this Purdy & Figg sanitiser, but the one we’ve taken to (gifted by a friend) is a very poised blend of vetiver (a favourite essential oil of ours), together with juniper and coriander seed.

It’s actually very calming ‘grounding’ – and grounding is something we’ve been badly needing lately. You’ll catch up sniffing our palms, a few seconds after spritzing, almost as a meditation. (Meanwhile, worn on a chap’s neck, we wouldn’t even mind smelling this as a male fragrance!)

Though tiny, and though used often, the handbag-friendly, small glass bottles seem to last for ages – 300 uses per 50ml, this British brand promises.

And yes, the brand. Purdy & Figg was created by an NHS nurse, Purdy Rubin, along with horticulturalist Charlotte Figg, and we are definitely keen to try more from the range.

The website, meanwhile, also has a practical blog about other uses for your Purdy & Figg hand sanitiser – from cleaning phones to keyboards via doorknobs and light switches. Read it here.

Wild, woody, wonderful – and really affordable, too.
