Jo’s ‘guilty pleasure’ is a Gin & Tonic. (She never imagined turning into her mother in quite this way, but after wine began waking her up at 2 a.m. with a racing heart and mind, someone recommended gin.  Wow. What a difference! But the thing is, a life-long rule is that Jo only ever drinks on a Friday and Saturday evening (and even then, just the one). Now, though, she’s found a way to get her wonderfully juniper-y G&T fix without the alcohol. At a Penhaligon’s Fragrance Profiling consultation, Jo discovered this brilliant Juniper Sling Bath & Shower Gel: brilliant on a big natural sponge for body cleansing, or pouring under running water for a frothy treat.

The scent is unisex – but wonderfully enlivening and relaxing at the same time. Top notes include cinnamon, angelica and juniper berry, while in the heart, there’s a nose-tingling grind of black pepper, together with orris, cardamom and leather. The base has sensual touches of brown sugar, black cherry, Ambrox and vetiver – but of course, being a bath product, you pretty much get the lot at once, rather than waiting for the scent to evolve on the skin. (And you get a really good ‘hit’ from the Bath & Shower Gel.)
