Neal’s Yard Frankincense Intense Lift Serum

We have in the past shared our ‘history’ with this range. How when Beauty Bible trialled the very first product in the Frankincense collection, and it did so phenomenally well in the ‘miracle’ category, the product not only completely sold out, but created a global shortage of blue glass.

Almost 20 years on (yikes), the range based on this Middle Eastern resin from the Boswellia sacra tree – which was once used for mummification, NB (THAT’s how good it is at preserving skin!) – remains a bestseller for the British, all-natural brand. But Neal’s Yard innovate constantly – most recently with this Soil Association-certified ‘lifting’ serum, featuring a powerfully antioxidant Frankincense Active Phyto Complex which is clinically proven to protect collagen.

In their trials, 83% of women reported skin was ‘visibly lifted’. (The trial took place with 100 women, which is way more than most trials.) Cheeks and jaw looked ‘re-defined’, while skintone was also evened out, deep lines reduced – and more. Admittedly we’ve only used it short-term ourselves (though we’ll be getting our own testers to put this through its paces) – but we’re loving it: a sinks-in-fast texture that leaves skin instantly more radiant, and plumped-up (probably thanks to the hyaluronic acid in the formula).

You’ll need to add a moisturiser, nevertheless. If you have super-dry skin you might want to try the Frankincense Intense Lift Cream (which is as rich and buttery as a face cream gets – actually, too rich even for us) – or perhaps the enduringly fabulous Frankincense Nourishing Cream, which created such a buzz, all those years ago.

Not absolutely everyone loves the scent of frankincense – but we do, and wholeheartedly agree with the 85% of Neal’s Yard’s testers who found that inhaling the scent of the serum also made them feel less stressed.
