Here's the second in a fabulous series of tutorials from our friend Mary Greenwell, who's now offering her beauty knowledge and expert advice to M&S customers. This time, she's sharing with us the secret to creating the perfect 'Contoured' - one of the most-Googled beauty queries, with contouring generating over 27,000* searches per month. So here's the how-to, from one of the greatest pros in the business...

Studio 10 Highlighter1. Start by applying highlighter down the centre of your nose and then, under the eye to the top of the cheekbone, taking care to pat the product gently into the skin. For this look I used the Studio 10 Youth Lift Glow-plexion Highlighter, £26.

2. Next apply your eyeshadow to the sockets of the eye just above the eyelid, using long strokes back and forth to contour and intensify the eye area and balance the face. I applied Autograph Pure Colour Mono Eyeshadow in Brown Suede, £7,  to create this look.

3. Using the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit, £6.50, take a brush to apply the deep brown colour from the side of the ear to just below the top of the cheek bone, building up as you wish. Next use the brush to apply the deep brown under the chin, brushing in well to contour this area. Next apply the mid-brown colour to the hairline with your brush to warm up the silhouette. Now apply a tiny bit of the highlighter to the centre of the chin and centre of the forehead.

To define and shape the nose, use the deep brown from the Barry M Contour Kit and apply using a shadow brush to the side of the nose, blending in with your fingers. If at any point you can still see the line when you are sculpting – you haven’t finished the job of blending. Take the middle colour from the Barry M Contour Kit and using a clean brush, sweep lightly over the apples of the cheek to warm it up. 5. Finish the look use a brush to apply a neutral powder under the eye area, through the sides of the nose and around the mouth, focusing on smile lines. This will dilute any shine and blend all of the products together for a beautiful finish, I used Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Make-up Compact, £24.
