Marc Jacobs Beauty

This has been hotly anticipated – and we’re not surprised: it’s a very exciting addition to the make-up lines out there. (Even if, currently, you have to make a pilgrimage to Harrods to check it out – or buy via www.harrods.com.) Its ‘face’ is Winona Ryder, who looks stunning – if unrecognisably glamorous – in the visual above. We can’t help liking his beauty philosophy: ‘I see beauty in many things and am attracted to all sorts of imperfection.’ (Because nobody’s perfect.)

Curvily-packaged, Marc Jacobs Beauty has landed fully-formed and is a pretty massive range, having already enjoyed great success on the other side of the Atlantic.

There are several different lipstick finishes (we’re enjoying New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel and Le Marc Lip Crème: a proper, grown-up creamy lipstick which is available in 20 shades including exclusive-to-Harrods ‘Charlotte’).

We like that there are nine shades of Remedy Concealer, compared to three in many ranges, while The Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara delivers impressively volumising results, in a jet-black shade.

But our fave ‘find’ of all is a little gem which it would be easy to overlook: Fineliner Gel Eye Crayon is a twist-up gel crayon which is honestly one of the easiest-to-use eyeliner pencils we’ve ever tried – and delivers a look rivalling anything you can achieve with a brush. You can go thin, go thick, go smokey – all a cinch.

You also need to know that throughout the rest of February there are special make-up events taking place in Harrods, all bookable with fees redeemable against Marc Jacobs Beauty purchases. (Which makes the make-up free, doesn’t it...? According to our slightly warped beauty maths, anyway.)

On 19th-20th February, it’s from it’s ‘Blacquer is Better’: a 20-minute session with Champagne and canapés. Timings on 19th are 6 - 9 p.m., and 2 – 4 p.m. on 20th.

On 25th-26th, take advantage of the Re(Marc)able Complexion sessions, from 6-9 p.m., also lasting 20 minutes with Champagne and nibbles.

To schedule your appointment, call Harrods on 020-7225 5987 or e-mail here.

Having already wowed the UK with his fragrances, we think Mr. Jacobs looks sest to make his mark – or should it be Marc? – in our make-up bags, in a big way.
