Caroline Barnes's tutorials for Look Good Feel Better

If you read us regularly, you’ll know that we are huge fans of the work that Look Good Feel Better does with cancer patients to boost wellbeing and self-esteem via ‘makeover’ workshops. In recent years, they’ve added men’s services to LGFB’s offering – because it’s as distressing to lose your hair/facial hair for a man undergoing chemo as it is for a woman.

This wonderful initiative – which in 2019 is celebrating its 25th birthday – is supported by a raft of beauty companies and industry figures, media outlets and organisations like Bannatyne Health Clubs and Spas.

In the past 25 years they’ve reached 170,000 individuals. But of course, that’s still not enough – and not everyone can get to (or get on) a workshop. So the good news is that the brilliant make-up artist Caroline Barnes and superfacialist Anastasia Achilleos have created some excellent new step-by-step on-line tutorials covering everything from recreating missing eyebrows to choosing a wig or headgear via finding skincare that tackles some of the challenges from the side-effects of cancer treatment. (That’s just a teensy taster, because the website now also offers specific tutorials for teens and young adults, and men.)

Here’s to the next 25 years, Look Good Feel Better. You’re definitely looking good – and so are the many, many people you’ve helped.
