L’Occitane La Flamme Marie Claire Candle
We're always keen to share news of beauty products which ‘give back’ – especially when they support worthwhile projects in the developing world. Brought to you by L’Occitane in partnership with Marie Claire magazine, 100% of profits from the sale of each of these candles will raise funds for women’s education, via three chosen charities: Entrepreneurs du Monde (in Burkina Faso, where L’Occitane has long had a Fairtrade project for sourcing shea butt4er), Toutes L’École (Cambodia) and – close to home – a charity called Rosa, which operates in England, Wales and Scotland.
Slightly shamefacedly we admit: we had to look Rosa up – you can read more about them here – but we applaud their efforts to support women’s projects, make women safer from fear and violence, improve health and wellbeing and work towards better representation of (and leadership by) women.
Of course, the best fund-raising products are those which you’d want to buy in their own right, not just for philanthropic reasons. This ‘tinned’ candle ticks that box: a fruity-floral blend of tart red berries, freesia, lily of the valley, rose, jasmine, amber and rosewood – and it has our hearts a-flicker with feelings of warmth.
