We often think wistfully of a time when life was less complicated. We also often think wistfully of a time when John Frieda’s ground-breaking Sheer Blonde range was less complicated, to be honest; there are now so many ‘sub-ranges’ that even we can’t navigate our way around easily.

Helpfully, however, Brilliantly Brighter Blonde Perfecting Treatment (phew!) is the only product of its type in what is now a massive offering for blondes: a high-tech treatment that slightly ‘lifts’ the colour of both natural or bleached blonde/highlighted hair, without resorting to ammonia.

How does it do that? Via something called ‘Rainbow Dye technology’, which deposits dye around the outer layers of hair, without changing the base colour. (Which equals less damage.) These pigments have apparently been developed with ‘a leading photography and imaging company’ – no names mentioned, but an interesting out-of-the-haircare-box approach.

Hair does indeed look incredibly sheen-y after use, with base colour ‘brightened’ – though not scarily so. They recommend using it every three washes or so (in our case that means once every three weeks since we don’t believe in over-washing hair… But that’s another story.)

There’s an accompanying Sheer Blonde Brilliantly Brightening Ultra Illuminating Shampoo and Conditioner/£6.99 each, designed to brighten all types of blonde hair, delivering ‘diamond shine’. Sarah loves them, commenting: 'my blonde highlights really sparkled a bit more and hair was bouncy and easy to style; great price too'.

This is a collection we could pretty much recommend to any blonde, frankly – a welcome short-cut, through what's become a massive range.
