We love pink hair. We don’t think our make-up artist friend Mary Greenwell has ever looked prettier than with her usual blonditude tinted all-over sugared almond pink. However, it’s not for scaredy-cats. Or those who would have it frowned upon in a work environment. So we love, love, love the idea of this Colour Flash service from our all-time favourite salon John Frieda, which can be created to ‘back flash’ – i.e., it only shows when you tuck your hair back and nobody in that board meeting will ever know your pink/blue/mauve secret. Come the weekend? A different story.

It can be permanent or non-permanent, to one side or both, or as an under-fringe – and it’s the whizzy idea of John Frieda’s talented colourist Carmel Blackburne (who we remember as a charming junior, which tells you just how long we’ve been devoted to Mr. Frieda’s establishments).
