Horatio’s Garden Hand Cream

This is a very, very good hand cream – in aid of a very, very good cause. We came across Horatio’s Garden’s hand wash and accompanying cream at the Chelsea Flower Show this year – and Jo’s been carrying a little tin around in her handbag ever since.

Now, when it comes to hand creams we most definitely have boxes to tick. First, it must be rich. Second, it must sink in fast enough to pass the ‘loo door test’: once you’ve slathered, could you immediately open a loo door that has a round handle…? (We’ve surely all been stuck in a situation like that waiting for a cream to sink in.)

Formulated by medical herbalists and featuring naturally antiseptic oils of sage, lavender and rosemary, along with a healing marshmallow infusion, this ticks those boxes brilliantly.

But it goes beyond that – because the cream helps raise funds for Horatio’s Garden, a wonderful charity which works to create beautiful, accessible gardens in NHS spinal injury centres, and offers garden therapy, art therapy and music concerts as part of the rehabilitation process.

The teeny tins are only available at Horatio’s Garden stands at horticultural shows, where they’ve been spreading the word about their activities. But we’ve no hesitation in recommending you go straight for the handsome 100ml size of a hand cream with a seriously good feel-good factor – in every way.
