Green Angel skincare
Oh why, oh why did it take till Spring Fair 2019 for us to discover this brand…? But we’re so glad we did, albeit belatedly. Because we have literally adored everything we’ve tried, so far from this Irish brand.
Green Angel was started by husband and wife duo, Chris and Mary Mitchell, when she was seeking a natural but effective skincare range for her dry, sensitive skin. (Which may be why we’re getting along so well with these products, since we suffer from the same twin skin challenges.) Chris, meanwhile, had always been fascinated by seaweed, growing up in the Wash, Lincolnshire, where he’d gather seaweed and at one time watched in awe as a seaweed poultice healed his dad’s leg after a motorbike accident.
Working with a chemist and an expert in thalassotherapy, the couple worked to create a range of luxurious skincare, bodycare and haircare, all based around hand-harvested seaweed (but without any rock-pool aroma, we need you to know). Very competitively-priced, considering the quality, it’s been around a while, actually (since 2006).
But to be blunt, it was the new and decidedly more stylish, breezy sea-inspired packaging (see it in situ, below) which caught out eye and drew us to Green Angel’s stand. (We can definitely be forgiven for not having noticed it, with its previous understated look…)
We thought we’d share with you a few highlights to date…
Green Angel Seaweed & Argan Body Oil/£20.95 for 200ml. A lightweight but really nourishing blend incorporating seaweed from the west coast of Ireland alongside argan oil, infused with a heavenly blend of geranium and neroli essential oils. An off-the-scale pleasure factor, with this.
Green Angel Sunrise Magic Body Smoother/£26.95 for 500g (a really big jar!!!!) If we were entranced by the scent of the body oil – well, this is equally lovely and very put-a-spring-in-your-step zingy, with grapefruit and lemon oils suspended in a grapeseed and argan base that leaves a softening veil on skin after use.
Green Angel Hand Cream/£19.95 for 50ml. Not one to carry around (it’s a jar), but one to smooth into dry paws last thing at night for velvety hands by morning. This has become a fixture on the night-stand: a blend of four mineral-rich seaweeds, once again scented with neroli. Not greasy, not sticky – just perfect.
All in all, such a happy find. Now we’re looking forward to trying more from Green Angel – and hoping to persuade Green Angel to enter our Beauty Bible Awards 2020!)
