Fab Find of the Week: Sun.Day candles
We sometimes think: honestly, does the world need another scented candle brand? But the something comes along like Sun.Day, whose founder Natasha Garbawi completely blew us away with her cool, her charm – oh, AND her botanical candles – and we realise the answer is: ‘yes’. Definitely.
All her life, Natasha has holidayed in Macedonia, in the mountainous town her family comes from and where they pick wild herbs and botanicals to make salves, soaps and teas. It sounds like marketing spiel, but you get a sense from Natasha of a real love of those botanicals, which she has translated into a very hip scented candle brand, called Sun.Day. (She also makes room mists and diffusers, too. And when I say ‘she’, often that’s exactly who’s making Sun.Day’s products, because this brand started on a kitchen table and at just 32, Natasha remains very hands-on.)
Minimally-packaged in (also British-made) apothecary jars, it’s the collection’s smells which really hooked us. (Just as it should be, with scented candles.) We especially like VI. Céleste, which fuses jasmine absolute, cedarwood, patchouli, amber, cardamom, rose and a bright touch of bergamot, and II. Midnight (somewhere), blending lavender with orange peel and geranium: zesty and calming, all at once. But to be honest, they’re all fab, fab, fab.
Everything is vegan, created from GMO-free coconut and palm oil-free plant waxes, with aromatherapy-grade essential oil blends.
But we say: don’t save them for Sundays – because every day deserves Sun.Day’s best.
