Fab Find of the Week: Velvet Smoke Baked Kiss scented candle

You probably already know about our love for Velvet Smoke’s Filthy Rose candle, which came out earlier this year and promptly sold out, over and over again. Lisa Potter-Dixon and her business partner Lia Briamonte basically spent weeks parcelling up candles themselves, to cope with the demand. (Haven’t checked, but we do rather hope that Velvet Smoke has moved out of Lisa’s spare bedroom, now.)

Well, just when we need a little bit of summer back in our lives, we welcome its ‘sister’ candle, this time hand-poured into a pretty pastel Murano glass ‘inspired by Lisa and Lia’s love of the ocean’. (In contrast with the first candle, which had a tortoiseshell vibe). Certainly, if you follow Lisa’s Instagram (here - and you do, don’t you?), you’ll see that she’s never happier than when on a beach.

Baked Kiss is heaven, in a completely different way, designed to conjure up ‘the scent of coconut milk, smoke, sea salt, tobacco, tuberose, ylang ylang and sandalwood.’ Lovers of exotic florals are going to swoon for this. It’s a snog at sunset, with a piña colada in your hand, on a tropical beach. And it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Velvet Smoke’s candles have an astonishingly long burn time – an average of 60 hours. That’s a lot of being whisked somewhere a lot lighter, drier and more carefree than where we’re writing this review, right this moment.

So, if you feel that summer can’t come back round again soon enough, we suggest you grab yourself a Baked Kiss.
