Fab Find of the Week: The Hair Consult

OK, so these guys are psychic, or something. A wee while ago, Jo was asked to answer a few questions about her hair, with the goal of receiving a prescribed regime of products from the experts at The Hair Consult, a new online and personalised haircare site.

Then life got busy… and spending any time filling in any kind of questionnaire got tricky. (TBH, it slipped so far down the ‘To Do’ list that it dropped off the bottom.) But undeterred, the team at The Hair Consult did a little digging, and a box of products arrived on Jo’s doorstep. We can only think that they’d dug deep into Beauty Bible posts, and also looked at Jo’s Insta profile, determining that her hair is blonde, bleached and thirsty.

Weirdly, every product in that delivery is one that she’s used, loved and likes – from Aveda Nutriplenish Light Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner to Olaplex No.9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum. Opening the box honestly felt like winning the hair lottery. Bingo!

It won’t work quite like that for you, of course – you’ve got to help them with their research. Navigating the vast number of hair products out there can feel utterly overwhelming, at times, so The Hair Consult’s concierges are all lined up to help. For £20, you can book a 20-minute personalised consultation with one of their experts, to establish a haircare regime that works with your lifestyle and specific hair needs. If you book the £50 session, that extends to a guided shopping experience which not only includes their expert analysis of your hair and its challenges, but also buys you £50 worth of haircare – so it's effectively gratis. (Men, women, non-binary, trans: all are welcome.) From 1st February, meanwhile, all orders over £100 will receive the Good Hair Guide, which you can see in Jo’s photo, above.

The brands they currently prescribe from – Aveda, Kérastase, Olaplex, Oribe, Pureology – are at the luxury end of the price scale. But what we would say is: it’s possible to waste a lot of money trying to identify your perfect haircare match; taking a short-cut to the right products in this way could not only translate to savings, in the long run, but you could save clutter on the bathroom shelf (or even prevent ill-matched bottles of haircare going to landfill).

Meanwhile? We’re not sure if they’re more Sherlock Holmes or Mystic Meg, but either way, we’re impressed.
