There are all sorts of reasons to keep your cosmetics refrigerated.

First off, to preserve their lifespan – particularly important for fragrances, by the way, but invaluable if you make your own ‘fresh’ products. And also good for ‘overwintering’ suncare, whose protective power can diminish if just left in a bathroom cabinet. And if you do happen to overheat in the sun, there’s nothing like a cooling aftersun to take away the ‘ouch’ factor.

Secondly, applying something straight from the fridge boosts circulation – whether that’s a toner, a mask, a moisturiser. (OK, so we happen to be writing this on a grey, unseasonably chilly day – but the principle holds.)
