Fab Find of the Week: Nursem Ultra Caring Body Balm

Been on holiday? Got dry, post-vacation flakiness (well, basically, ‘body dandruff’)? Actually, you don’t need to have been on holiday for that: tight and taut and generally dessicated body skin can be a fact of life from perimenopause onwards.

But salvation is at hand, in the form of the first real innovation from Nursem in a wee while – Nursem Ultra Caring Body Balm. The brand was founded by Antonia Phil, a paediatric nurse who knew about dry sky first-hand: as a consequence of having to sanitise her hands frequently during the day, they became sore, cracked and even bled, sometimes. It was her husband Jonny who came up with the idea for Nursem – and we’re so grateful he did, because this simple, unperfumed, super-effective cream has become a go-to for our hard-working hands.

And as you can see here, there’s now a giant(ish) body version – a generous 250ml tub, for equally generous slathering. Non-greasy, sinking in fast but REALLY nourishing, it boosts skin’s barrier with an ingredient called mondo grass, alongside soothing colloidal oatmeal and niacinamide, for brightness. High up the ingredients list, meanwhile, are famously effective cocoa and shea butters – and not a petrochemical in sight.

Fragrance-free, it’s suitable even for eczema-prone skin – and if we listen carefully, we’re pretty sure we can hear our skin letting out a little sigh of relief, as it sinks in.
