Fab Find of the Week: Miller Harris new Bath & Body collection

Having written our first ‘green’ book 17 years ago, we like to recognise when companies are making real steps on their sustainability journey – so here's a heads-up for what Miller Harris are doing, with the unveiling of their repackaged bath and body treats. Real thought has gone into this collection, which – as they put it – 'has sustainability at its core.'

We love what they say about this, though. Companies are often worried about talking about their sustainability journey for fear of being criticised for what they HAVEN'T yet got right. And this is a journey of 1,000 steps, with every step mattering.

As this renowned fragrance name puts it: 'We are very aware that what we are doing is not good enough, we are making changes daily to prioritise the planet.' Or – and again, we quote – '80% done is better than waiting to be 100% perfect.'

We think they're doing pretty well so far. All the plastic bottles are made with recycled post-consumer waste, which is all recyclable. All of the outer packaging is FSC-certified and recyclable, too (and there are no shrink-sleeves). Preservatives are Ecocert-compliant, materials come from a sustainable supply chain (albeit unspecified) and they are working hard towards products having an 'afterlife'.

AND they've got gorgeous, chunky new soaps, a switch to which (from liquid washes) is a really positive step we can all take, to cut down on packaging and pump componentry. The hand creams, meanwhile, are aluminium, to be popped in recycling once you've removed the cap.

Now the bit to soothe your skin and senses, rather than your conscience. The products are available in some of (what we consider to be) Miller Harris's loveliest ranges, including Rose Silence, above (which is as beautiful a rose scent as anyone could wish for, frankl), ultra-fresh Tea Tonique, dreamily airy Lumière Dorée – eight in all (though if anyone's looking to give us a present anytime soon, please start with the fragrances just mentioned!) Did sustainability ever smell so good...?

We've really no doubt Miller Harris will soon be back reporting on the next stage in their sustainability journey. Meanwhile, they really do get a green star, from us, for their efforts thus far.
