Crabtree & Evelyn new skincare and bodycare

Think of Crabtree & Evelyn, and what do you think? Pretty, flower-sprigged toiletries and equally pretty-pretty scents, we’re guessing. (Even though beauty insiders know they’ve always been about much more than that.)

But now, this treasured brand has taken a quantum leap forward, with a major visual overhaul and some real excitement in the form of new skincare and bodycare. (The skincare comprises a range of cleansers, thus far, but with more to come, too, we’re told.)

Among the body innovations are Buff + Invigorate Body Bar (£13.50), which exfoliates nicely as you wash, thanks to grains of bamboo stem, alongside apple fibre and blackcurrant seed oil.

The Cleanse + Awaken Shower Gel is something else we’re particularly taken with, with an invigorating aromatic earthy-floral scent, and apple AHAs to brighten skin as you wash.

Probably our favourite of all from the new-look line-up is a more traditional style C&E product, meanwhile: Evelyn Rose Velvet Body Melt, (£31.50 for 250ml), with its delectable whipped texture and a ravishing scent of rose that does indeed melt into skin (and keeps on giving, hours later).

There’s even a new strap-line: ‘Born Curious. Grown Wild.’ We’re told it evokes the spirit of Crabtree & Evelyn’s founder Cyrus Harvey, whose wanderlust and enthusiasm for nature infuse the brand.

It’s all very millennial Instagram-friendly (if that matters to you) – but Crabtree & Evelyn haven’t thrown the baby out with the rose-scented bubble bath water, and there’s still plenty to delight grown-ups here, while offering treats that should attract a new generation of C&E fans.

If you’ve existing favourites, though, you’ll have to hunt on the site because they’re tucked away in a section called ‘The Archives’, here. – and these, too, have a completely new look.

Still pretty. But not a floral sprig in sight…
