Clap hands for the Slapp app

We love seeing a beauty start-up based on a darned great idea. Slapp is one of those ideas: a free make-up app which can read the shade of your skintone and prescribe the perfect shade of base or concealer, accordingly.

It's the brainchild of fellow beauty editor and journalist Jamila Robertson. And as Jamila puts it: ‘For something that we buy as a beauty staple, shopping for foundation is still too difficult. We don't always have the time, inclination - (or in some cases- the option) to visit a department store, every time we want to get a new foundation.’

Couldn’t agree more. We've tried it. It works.

So: simply download the Slapp app, take a selfie of yourself – and it will then make recommendations. Currently there are just three brands on the site – the very excellent Ellis Faas (we’re long-term fans), Vapour Organic and L.A. Girl – but we really hope all the big beauty names take this idea and get on board.

Go, Jamila – and here’s a great big pat on the back to her for getting Slapp off the ground.

Slapp is available for Android and iPhone, and find it via: slappshop.com
