Beauty Clinic: What can I do to disguise a large nose?
Q. I have a huge nose. How can I take the focus off it? A. Many people have a facial feature that they want to divert attention from. The best advice we know is to take the focus away from any feature that seems out of proportion. But do bear in mind that what you see in the mirror is really not the same as what other people see. They might notice instead lovely eyes or a big smile, gorgeous hair, a friendly face…
The immediate thing you could try is eye make up, which will take the viewer’s upwards and outwards. Simply putting lash lengthening mascara on and sweeping lashes to each side will help. You can experiment with eyeliner and shadow too. Why not go and have a couple of free make-up makeovers and ask the consultants for help? Prowl around the make-up counters in a big store and spot the consultants whose appearance you like, and who seem friendly and helpful.
We also suggest shaping and grooming your brows. Booking in for a professional session is a good investment if your budget permits.
Earrings are another brilliant distraction, as is lovely hair: but avoid a fringe because that brings the viewer’s eye down.

We point out that virtually no one is physically perfect – even supermodels. Remember that however flawless they appear, it’s the result of expert make-up and, often, digital retouching.
Focus on accentuating the positive – both your facial features and your personality – and you will find that’s what people notice.
