Beauty Clinic: What can I do about redness...?

Q. I’m nearly 50 with ok skin with no visible wrinkles but I do have a few red veins around my nose and a bit of redness on my cheeks.  I am looking for a good budget cleanser – not more than £15 to £20 max.  I have had cancer so am trying to find more gentle natural products, rather than the expensive glycolic cleanser I used in the past. A. Cleansers nowadays are practically skin treatments in their own right.  We have the following suggestions for natural cleansers, some organically certified, which we think would suit you – and your budget.

AKIN CREAMY CLEANSER A’kin Rose & Geranium Facial Creamy Cleanser & Toner: as the name implies this light creamy product combines a toning action from witch hazel with thorough cleansing. It's ideal for sensitive skin – Sarah’s current favourite cleanser.

ODILYQUE CREAMY COCONUT CLEANSEROdylique Creamy Coconut Cleanser: one of the award-winning products in our latest book The Ultimate Natural Beauty Bible, this gathered very high marks from our testers: one commented that it ‘works quickly and removes all traces of make-up, grease and grime – skin felt mega-clean after this and I’d switch brands in a minute’.

Dr Hauschka Creamy CleanserDr.Hauschka Cleansing Cream: a gently exfoliating texture to this classic cleanser, based on sweet almond meal.  Dr.Hauschka recommend applying it with a three-minute massage technique, which really does product results.  Again a Beauty Bible award winner: one tester said she ‘sighed as I thought this would be a kerfuffle but the results are so worth it!  Skin clean and soft, dry patches eliminated in a way I have only experienced with a salon facial.’

Whichever you choose, you can use the now popular technique of removing the cleanser with a clean muslin cloth wrung out in hot water, then repeat with cold for a tingly fresh feeling.  Pat dry and apply moisturiser, serum and/or facial oil after.
