Beauty Clinic: Skincare for an autistic teen?
Q. I have a wonderful son who is just about to be a teenager. He loves beauty products and wants to be well groomed. He is autistic so he is desperately keen to be like others. He has used commercial products for bathing and hair care etc but unfortunately he suffers from eczema, which is exacerbated by cheap brands. I am desperate to find a natural-based set of products that is not too expensive (he has been known to put a full bottle of shampoo on his head). Can you recommend me anything with a male slant? A. We suggest you consider the Derma E ranges, which are based on pycnogenol, an antioxidant from Spanish maritime pine bark. The products should not trigger his eczema and should hopefully help it.
Derma E packaging is quite masculine-looking particularly the Stuf products, which include a Facial Cleanser, a Facial Scrub and Shave Gel. There is also a Body and Hair Wash.
I know those prices are not cheap if a whole bottle is going to disappear at one go but perhaps you could decant the products into smaller bottles. Try The Plastic Bottles Company, www.theplasticbottlescompany.com, for a big choice, or www.boots.com - just put ‘plastic bottles’ in the Search box.
There is also a good natural range called Botanical Therapeutics, which offers a large 360 ml bottle of Shampoo and Body Wash - it's extra- mild with no SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) or synthetic preservatives and is recommended for inflammatory scalp problems. There is also a matching Skin Cream. A
