Beauty Clinic: Bridal make-up help

Q. My friend’s daughter is getting married shortly and I wonder if you know any company that offers wedding make-up? A. The key thing with bridal make-up is to look like yourself at your most lovely. So it’s not the time to experiment with new looks for make-up or hair. (Or if you do want to do that, factor in lots of rehearsal time – months preferably, not weeks and certainly not days.)

Leading make-up brand Bobbi Brown (one of our own long-time favourites) offers a completely complimentary Bridal Make-up Lesson on all their counters nationwide. They say: ‘Our artists help the bride-to-be create a special look that she will love – in person and in photos – for years to come.’

Bobbi also has a simple four-step Wedding Day Look, which you can find on her website, www.bobbibrown.co.uk - just put ‘bridal beauty’ in Search.

If your friend’s daughter loves natural products, we suggest she has a make-over at a bareMinerals counter; find them at www.bareminerals.co.uk. They do not offer bridal make-up as such but do such great looks that they are well worth a visit.

This totally gorgeous stand-alone boutique, the first in the UK, offers a tailor-made bridal service, including a choice of three one hour appointments to learn about the correct skincare, how to create the perfect look for you, and how to find your signature scent. Then she can record it all in the gorgeous Chanel Bridal Journal, which is part of the package...

NB A last thought: don't wear lip-gloss on your wedding day – it doesn't look good in photos (too shiny), doesn’t last and tends to come off on the groom when he kisses the bride… Also, do discuss your look with the photographer: flash tends to make even the most lily-like complexions come up like a lobster if there is a whisker too much red in the products.
