Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: Body Shop Banana Truly Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner

Oh, hello, old friends.

We know that quite a few of you will be thrilled to make the acquaintance again of this amazing haircare line. Banana Conditioner was one of the very, very first Body Shop products. We loved it then, and we’re in love with it all over again, not least because of the notable new eco-packaging that it’s presented in.

First up, Banana Shampoo – great for dry, frizz-prone hair and VERY silkifying indeed. Which is apt, because it is created with vegan silk protein, to leave hair looking smooth and help defy flyaways and frizziness. It smells… well, just like bananas. That was always the point of this haircare collection, but it’s not a fake banana smell – just wonderfully tropical and smile-making. And it really does come from the bananas that Body Shop mash into this range.

It should be followed (naturally) by Banana Conditioner, which is 96% ingredients of natural origin and – like the Shampoo – certified vegan. Smoothing, sleeking, super-effective. And that fab scent, again!

But what we especially love about this range – and which our friend Anita would be so thrilled by – is the new dark green-in-every-way packaging. It’s created from 100% recycled plastic, including – wait for it – Community Fair Trade recycled plastic, collected off the streets of Bengaluru, India. Having travelled in India, the plastic situation there is terrible, and so this is a really laudable initiative. (NB Cap not yet recycled – but we’re sure they’re working on it.

We’ve gone a bit bananas over these. But sometimes, the oldies really ARE the best.
