Beauty Bible Loves... SWEED Glass Skin Foundation
‘Glass skin’ is a trend that comes to us (as so many things do) from Korea, referring to skin that is smooth and clear, ‘with a luminous sheen that quite literally resembles glass.’ (To quote Vaseline’s website, for a definitive description.)
There are few of us beyond 40 that reckon that a complexion like glass possible, even if we thought it desirable – so don’t run away with the idea that this exceptional, just-launched foundation (from a brand that we showcased as our Fab Find of the Week, here) is just some kind of gimmick.
Nope. SWEED Glass Skin Foundation is actually one of the best bases we’ve found in years – and we’d call the results seamless, rather than ‘glass-like’. It’s light as a feather, yet covers brilliantly. A little goes… well, all the way from here to Stockholm, metaphorically; SWEED call it ‘medium’ coverage, and a few dots are all that takes. If you did feel you needed a little extra help, a dab or two on (say) redness or pigmentation will do the trick. And gosh, it LASTS! (Comfy, too. Can’t feel it’s there.)
We caught up again with SWEED’s founder, make-up artist Gabriella Elio, when she was in town last week, and she gave us a few shades to play with. They’re actually quite forgiving, and we could get away with any one of three, but the line-up is 15-shades strong, from light to deep. (Gabriella is ‘modelling’ the more intense shades, above.)
The all-important finish, meanwhile? On the luminous side – but honestly, not scary-shiny, like glass. (Catchy name notwithstanding.)
Such a brand to watch, this one. (And trust us: we star-spotted Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier and Sylvie Chantecaille, when THEY launched.)
