Beauty Bible Loves… SUQQU The Foundation SPF25 or SPF30

And just like that, the light changes… and it’s foundation weather.

But the results with this are so beautiful, that we’re quite happy to reach for a more covering base again.

We became fans of SUQQU foundation when the brand’s The Liquid Foundation won a Gold Beauty Bible Award earlier this year. (Jo and Sarah were actually on the testing panel for this product – we always joined one panel ourselves, during the process – and were incredibly taken with the finish and longevity offered by this serum-textured base.)

So we were queueing up to be first to try The Foundation, as they call this new creamier version. (NB it was useful, however, already to know which shade we were – 020 – on the strength of the Serum Foundation match.)

Well, this is GORGEOUS. A beautiful, rich-textured foundation, of which you only need a little, and can build coverage from there. Our how-to advice: apply a dose to the back of the hand, use a foundation brush to transfer to face – otherwise if you’re using a brush, you may pick up more product than you need. (If you’re a ‘finger application person’, you can dip your finger straight into the creamy formula – but we wouldn’t dream of using fingers with this.)

It evens out the complexion absolutely beautifully, looking radiant – and staying put, even without powder. It offers skincare benefits – which at this price, we’d definitely expect, including in this case extracts of angelica, hibiscus, aloe vera, camellia and tea, as well as hydrolysed silk.

We’re intrigued by the visual that SUQQU created, below, explaining how the foundation ‘develops’ on the skin, over time – rather like the pyramid a fragrance brand might create, of top, middle and base notes.

And as for ‘SPF25 OR SPF30’? We admit it’s confusing; we had to get our heads around this idea when writing up The Liquid Foundation for the Awards section; SUQQU’s foundation SPF is dependent on your shade, with lighter shades affording greater protection due, we think, to the level of titanium oxide in the product.

Last reason to love it? 24 shades are available, covering the whole spectrum of skintones. This is definitely no ‘beauty steal’, but if it’s within your budget, we’d definitely suggest checking it out in store (if necessary, waiting till it lands close to you, if you can’t get to Selfridges).

PS The product we review here is the ‘new’ creamy foundation, an updated version of the one in the black jar. It’s only available at Selfridges, in the UK. We’re sure it’ll roll out to further stockists, once the black jars have sold through. But worth the wait!

PPS We have heard this pronounced ALL SORTS OF WAYS (including ‘suck-you’!) It’s ‘soo-koo’, FYI!)
