Story Time website
Wait. Hang on. What’s a write-up of a storytelling website doing on Beauty Bible?
Quite simply, when you come to work for Beauty Bible, you join a family. And Lily de Kergeriest Gutierrez has been part of Beauty Bible’s ‘family’ since she was a teenager, working on and off on our Awards, between living in New York, getting married, moving back to England and having gorgeous babies.
In the past year, Lily has organised Story Time storytelling events (local to our own Jo in Hastings) at which people, usually women, have bravely stood up and bared their souls. (Rarely a dry eye in the house.) The idea is to help build community through the power of telling stories – and it’s really working.
Now, she’s put together a website with some really wonderful first-person stories – including one from Jo, called ‘Fake Mum’ (read it here), about the fact that you don’t always need to be an ACTUAL mother to mother others, and which seems to have touched many readers.
The whole Story Time idea seems to be perfect for these times when we’re more interested in people’s inner lives, rather than their perfectly-veneered exteriors.
Read it. And (probably) weep, because these are stories to touch the heart – and we’re very proud of this member of the Beauty Bible gang.
