Messiah and Eve Bodycare

First, an explanation of the name – because we know you’re itching to know. According to founder Sarah Sklaventis, Messiah & Eve was ‘named for new beginnings and for my mother.’ She then goes on to say, about her own products, that ‘it is beautifully functional, efficacious… and smells absolutely incredible!’

And honestly, we have to agree with every word – especially the ‘smells’ bit. Messiah and Eve’s scents are divine, variously including bergamot, spicy black pepper, vetiver, verbena, jasmine, leather, woods, birch tar and blackberry (without being the least ‘fruity’).

We are positively addicted, which in the case of the Body Cream.01 is a very good thing because it means we’re repeatedly slathering it onto rather dry, post-summer skin, veiling it in a very grounding blend of oils that includes jasmine, bergamot, black pepper, leather and wood. (No real idea why our bodies – especially legs – are so desperately dry, since we’ve hardly been languishing on a beach, but good to get all-over supple and moisturised again before the central heating goes on.)

There are two body cleansers, Body Cleanser.01 (hydrating and skin-softening, with the same scent as the body cream), and Body Cleanser.02 (exfoliating and renewing, featuring blackberry, birch tar and guaiac wood), plus Bath Oil Emulsion.01, which blends oils of sweet almond, jojoba, borage and vitamin E, so that you don’t really NEED to moisturise when you emerge from the silken waters. (But with the aforementioned cream, it’s almost a crime not to.)

The scent here is thyme, vetiver and verbena. All come in generous sizes – 200ml (for the bath treat) and 300ml for the other three.

Are we allowed to say (without being struck by a thunderbolt) that Messiah and Eve is the answer to a post-summer body’s prayers…? We shall wait and see!
