Jane Scrivner Body Splashes

First up: these are NOT what you might necessarily think of as a ‘splash’. A ‘sloosh’, maybe – because these are oil-based, and few of us want to go splashing oil around with abandon (even in a bathroom, never mind a bedroom setting).

But honestly, don’t let that put you off – because these are fab, even if it does take one or two applications to get the hang of dispensing the correct amount. (The secret: flip open the lid and simply glide the nozzle over skin. Don’t squeeze – or you’ll overdo it.) What you CAN do is splash them in the bath – which is probably where the name came from.

They are potently aromatherapeutic – which we like. Expert blends, because that’s what Jane’s good at, delivering actual mood-shifting results. (We’ve never been ones for products where the creators hold back on the essential oils – because honestly, what’s the point?)

There are four blends, all in a skin-compatible, nourishing base of jojoba and coconut oils, so they’re rich but not greasy.

Cleanse Body Splash Oil – very aromatic and invigorating, when you brain needs a bit of a cleanse, frankly, with its blend of black pepper, juniper, grapefruit, sweet fennel and cypress needles.

Balance Body Splash Oil – a more exotic blend of ylang ylang, frankincense, French lavender and sandalwood, the latter of which adds its meditative power.

Peace Body Splash Oil – this is the one we’d use, perhaps, before a meditation session or a yoga workout, for its grounding, resinous notes of frankincense, myrrh, elemi, benzoin tincture and sweet orange peel.

Revive Body Splash Oil – this reminds us EXACTLY of a particular spa we used to visit in New York, pretty much for the smell alone (ah, those were the days…), with its blend of clary sage, peppermint, basil, lime peel and geranium. Anyway, not traditionally ‘reviving’ – we’d have expected more zestiness – but very, very wonderful.

Not cheap – but much better value than a lot of inexpensive aromatherapy products we could name, which smell quite pretty but don’t do a darned thing.
