Fab Find of the Week: ISOCLEAN make-up brush cleansers

Make-up artists advise that those of us who are non-pros clean our make-up brushes once a week. But you know what? Sudsing them with a bit of soap and water and leaving them to dry flat on towels, brushes hanging over the edge of the shelf, is… well, a faff.

So it doesn’t happen. Or at least not very often. And then your brushes get a bit manky and skanky and maybe whiffy, and THEN you get around to cleaning them, while they have meanwhile been building up quite a little community of bacteria between those bristles.

We literally have NO excuse not to clean them way more regularly, though, following our discovery of these super-effective ISOCLEAN brush-cleansers.

The product that we’re now using for regular deep cleaning is ISOCLEAN Makeup Brush Cleaner with Detachable Dip Tray. You’re supposed to pour the clear liquid into the drip tray and swirl your brushes in it, but to be honest, we’ve found an eggcup is a better shape for bigger brushes like blusher and foundation brushes.

No matter, it’s the product itself that’s genius: packed with antibacterial and antiviral ingredients, it’s almost as if it magnetises the dust, dirt, make-up, dead skin cells and all that product build-up off the bristles. Just swirl, and the results are immediately visible (and quite chastening). It even works on products like long-wear lipstick, leaving a lip brush completely pristine again.

The ISOCLEAN Makeup Brush Cleaner with Spray Top is probably more useful for professionals (or when someone in your house borrows your make-up brushes – and we know it happens…) You can also spritz your bristles with the product, and then wipe with a tissue – and it’s also great on a piece of kitchen roll or a tissue for cleaning make-up packaging.

Time for a spring clean, we reckon. And it’s honestly no chore – almost, satisfyingly pleasing – to keep up the good work, afterwards.
