Beauty Bible Loves... Imogen Owen Floral Scented Pencils
If you like writing cards and sending positive vibes through the post, you may already know about Imogen Owen.
Jo first discovered Imogen a few Christmases ago, as one of this brilliant calligrapher’s specialities is hand-scripting amazing missives in response to children’s ‘Dear Santa’ letters, which small people in Jo’s family now look forward to enormously. (You might want to make a note of Letter From Santa right now – because in our book, the earlier you start planning, the less stress there is.)
Imogen’s site is also a wonderful source of birthday, anniversary and other ‘event’ cards – including the best selection of sympathy cards we’ve ever found. (Most are just SO naff, but Imogen’s are wonderful.)
And then… there are these Imogen Owen Floral Scented Pencils, which Jo stumbled upon on her visit to the Soliflore store in Brighton (read our review here). There are loads of different scents – Lily of the Valley, Peony, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Lavender, Violet, Rose, and something called Wildwood (‘with hints of heady, dry smoky sandalwood and a touch of spice, incense, and birch tar).
But the one that Jo had to have is Rose Geranium, a nostalgically memory-triggering scent that takes her right back to childhood.
The pencils themselves are crafted from cedarwood, which has a gloriously dry, woody scent that we adore in its own right. But the pencils are really perfumed, so that you get wafts as you write. (They would make a wonderful gift, we reckon.)
Great for sketching, jottings – or maybe that novel that you keep meaning to get around to writing…?
