Purdy & Figg Charlotte’s Floral Hygienic Hand Balm with Shea Butter

Hand sanitisers look to be a fact of life for some time to come.

We’ve already praised Purdy & Figg’s Wild Woody Hand Sanitiser: dinkily-sized, it’s the one you’ll find in Jo’s handbag (and you can read why Beauty Bible Loves it, here).

They recently sent us this, too, and we’re enjoying it (as much as you can enjoy the fact you need to sanitise your hands several times a day…) The formulation still meets 70% alcohol benchmark for effective bug-protection), but the other 30% includes hand-nurturing ingredients that counterbalance the inevitable, unavoidable drying effect of sanitiser, notably shea butter.

Nothing like this can ever leave your hands as soft as an actual hand cream, of course – the bulk of those will be skin-nurturing oils, butters, etc. But the shea butter in the formula definitely leaves hands softer and much comfier than your typical sanitiser, rather than dry and papery.

What’s also appealing is the scent: a lovely blend of cold-pressed lemon, vetiver and geranium – quite meditative. If you felt a bit stressed on public transport, we suggest you apply a squirt of this, massage into hands and then cup your palms around your nose to enjoy a little moment of Zen…
