Guerlain Mad Eyes Mascara

It used to be lipstick that we turned to at times of global meltdown. A cheer-y uppy quick fillip for the spirits that made us feel that bit more glam. Indeed, Leonard Lauder coined the phrase ‘the Lipstick Index’, to describe the way that lipstick sales soared during troubled times.

We may expect that, however, to be replaced by ‘the Mascara Index’ in the coming months – because it’s going to be all about focusing on the features that can be seen when wearing a mask, we figure, for the foreseeable future.

So just in time, Guerlain have launched a new and truly eye-opening mascara. Mad Eyes is described as ‘buildable’ – and it’s just that. The first sweep delivers plenty of inky volume, but if you sweep the bristle brush from root to tip, you really can work on a false lash effect.

Beyond that, it’s formulated to be lash-caring. Lots of mascaras dry out and even crisp up lashes, but this offers D-panthenol for hydration (it also helps leave lashes flexible), along with smoothing cotton extract which we’re told ‘densifies’ the fibres. So after application, and even later on in the day, lashes are soft and silky, not stiff and brittle.

We’re not QUITE sure why it’s called ‘Mad Eyes’ (though we certainly ARE mad for it). But we’re pretty sure it’s going to feature prominently on that Mascara Index, over the coming weeks and months…
