Evolve Blue Velvet Ceramide Serum

No winter in all of our living memory has taken as much out of our complexions as this one. (As we write, a north-easterly wind is still blowing!)

Happily, a couple of months ago, we were introduced to Evolve Blue Velvet Ceramide Serum, which has worked to put back a lot of what dreary, cold weather and a much higher temperature on the central heating thermostat than we were planning had taken out of it.

Laura Rudoe’s Evolve range doesn’t launch newness very often, so we always get excited about innovations. First up: we rather love the unusual, almost sky-blue colour, which comes naturally from the blue tansy ingredient showcased in the serum alongside squalane and camellia oils.

Next, the nourishing power: we’d actually categorise this as an oil-serum hybrid: it’s definitely oilier than many serums, but does sink in well after a few minutes, rather than sitting on the surface – and three or four drops are all that’s needed for face and neck; at this time of year, we’d follow with an SPF, for day.

Last but not least, there really is a complexion-enlivening effect – not a jolt, more a nudge in the direction of radiance.

And if your skin has the blues, after the season we’re emerging from, it’s well worth exploring.
