Deciem SHOP room fragrance

There is a note of poignancy, as we spritz our rooms with this amazing fragrance, with its very interesting cosy-clean scent.

We happened to know Deciem’s founder, Brandon Truaxe – a troubled genius whose life sadly ended much too soon, and who never saw his brand acquired 100% by the Estée Lauder empire, who we feel will be excellent caretakers for his vision.

One of Brandon’s final projects was to commission perfume designer Azzi Glasser to create a fragrance that could ‘transport someone directly into the world of Deciem.’ (If you’ve spent the past few years in a bunker – well, haven’t we all – Deciem is the disruptive brand offering highly affordable products, often ‘single ingredient’-style, so that savvy beauty-hounds can customise their skincare regimes. Affordably.)

Now, if this was a skin-scent, we’d be wearing it. But it’s a scent for spaces – home, in our case, not shop – and everyone who walks into rooms we’ve sprayed (lavishly, several times a day!) seems to comment on it positively.

It is a reflection of the fact, as Brandon shared with us, that he was scent-obsessed – and we feel sad that he never got to see his fragrant plans come to fruition. As Azzi says, ‘He wanted a feeling of being lifted into a cosy bubble with a touch of edginess.’ It’s almost a little bit clinical, at first – fresh-air notes of cypress and cedar – but warms up rapidly, wrapping you in notes of white musk, patchouli and amber.

In other words, full of contrasts. Like Brandon.
