Color Wow Brassed Banned Mousse

Without wanting to sound like Marie Antoinette here, we have been forced in incarceration to do our own hair. (This is something Jo in particular deeply resents as she likes to multi-task by taking her computer to a salon for a weekly blow-dry – and washing and drying her own hair is not juggle-able with writing copy for this website or checking e-mails. It requires uni-tasking.)

But every cloud has a less brassy lining… Because we’ve found ourselves trying all manner of hair products over the past few months which perhaps we might not have bothered to lug to the salon – including this stellar mousse, just the ticket for blonde hair (although there is a version for dark hair, too).

Brassed Banned Mousse comes from Color Wow, the brilliant team whose line-up includes Joe Cincotta, formulator genius behind many of John Frieda’s original and best products. It’s a rich, actively conditioning, alcohol-free formula (most mousses contain lots of drying alcohol), featuring special polymers to deliver lots of ‘guts and bounce’. And that’s definitely what we want, in a hair innovation.

As the name suggests, it works to counterbalance brassiness – to which blonde hair is prone – with a touch of lavender pigment. You will not, we promise, emerge looking like Dame Edna Everage – but the lavender subtly corrects any yellowing.

It delivers a lasting, flexible style. And as ever from this brand, we find ourselves more than a little (Color) wow-ed.
