CHANEL Huile Camélia Hydrating & Fortifying Oil (for nails)

Of all the products that journalists got over-excited with at Chanel's first press day in over two years, a couple of months ago, this little baby was top of the list.

Never again, we pledged, would we be caught with scruffy cuticles and raggedy nails. And we absolutely won't, because this so-chic little squeezable tube of hydrating and fortifying Huile Camélia (more of a gel-serum texture, we'd call it) simply begs – BEGS, we're telling you – to be used.

It dispenses from a little sponge wand at the end and moisturises with camellia oil (very much a signature ingredient of Chanel's, nowadays). It can be used daily (nightly in our case); once a week, they recommend, the applicator can be used to push back the cuticles.

There's another great product in this new range, too: La Base Camélia Fortifying, Protecting and Smoothing Base Coat, which is great for smoothing out the nail (it works as a ridge-filler), and feeds perfectly into our midsummer resolution to give LOTS more TLC to our nails, after a couple of years of neglect.

Now all we have to do is remember to put on gardening gloves...
