The Vinoclean line from Caudalie, winner of a bevy of Beauty Bible Awards over the years, offers a choice of ‘eco-friendly’ cleansers, all vegan and stuffed with the brand’s signature botanicals. Those include vegetable oils, waxes and butters plus floral and botanical waters.
And yes, the ‘Vino’ does refer to wine – well, to be precise vine and grape extracts from French vineyards, patented with Harvard Medical School. Caudalie founders Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas got the idea back in 1993 from Professor Joseph Vercauteren. Chatting during the grape harvest at one of the most prestigious wine growers, Prof Vercautaren told them that grape seeds contain the most powerful antioxidants in the world. And what protects, nourishes and cherishes your complexion? Yes, antioxidants.
What’s not in Caudalie products is key too: you will find the odd synthetic chemical but no parabens, phenoxyethanol, mineral oils or potential irritants. The Caudalie Vinoclean Cleansing Almond Milk formula is 97% natural origin ingredients while the Micellar Cleansing Water is 98% natural ingredients.
The Micellar Cleansing Waterpackaging is also eco-friendly, in line with the brand’s commitment to the environment. So the plastic ‘flacon’ is both 100% recycled and recyclable. Hoorah!
