BYREDO make-up

We’re aware that featuring this feels a tad extravagant at this time of year, when if there IS any spare cash, we’re probably spending it on other people or on lovely food for a Christmas dinner for who-still-knows-how-many?

But we like to keep you abreast with beauty news, and this is noteworthy: the move sideways into make-up by BYREDO, known for their fragrances, home fragrances and (slightly inexplicably) luxury handbags.

Top of our picks is probably the Lipstick. As you’ll notice above, the packaging is different to anything out there, and – when we’re in the mood for slicking (and don’t have to wear a mask), the curved shape of this is a real pleasure to use. Fave shade in this lightweight, matte-finish lipstick? The wonderfully-named Worship Her (currently sold out, but no doubt they’re scrambling to get it back in stock ASAP).

There’s a single Mascara option in black (with a great, short silicone brush for accessing inner lashes), Colour Stick eyeshadows (mostly scary, except the black one which would be great for an instant smokey eye), a liquid liner (if that’s your thang), plus some wonderfully sculptural eyeshadow palettes – the Corporate Colors palette is a really terrific edit of gleaming neutrals.

It was conceptualised with Dazed Beauty’s Creative Director, make-up artist Issamaya Ffrench (below), who has a quite staggering number of Instagram followers (284K and counting), and is clearly her own No. 1 artwork.

Keeping you in the loop, ladies. And as and when we’re ever able to trial make-up in store again, this will very much be worth checking out in person, if for no other reason than the pleasing tactile experience. Which you DEFINITELY can’t get, online…
