BYREDO Lip Balm Bergamotte de Bahia
Warning: this limited edition is the world’s most expensive lip balm. (Well, it’s up there, anyway.) But we so fancied the idea of BYREDO’s bergamot-scented lip treat, and honestly needed a bit of a reward after a challenging and exhausting few days, so… cheaper than a new pair of shoes, eh? And it’s something we will DEFINITELY be wearing every day, once the weather cools.
Fragrance house BYREDO’s packaging is like a pleasing bit of sculpture, in itself. Open up the sleek metallic case, meanwhile, and you get to the liptastic formula itself, of which the light citrusy fragrance is the star feature.
Bergamotte de Bahia is one of three scents (there’s also an unfragranced version – though why would you…?), infused with the tang of lime and bright bergamot, and deeply moisturising, harnessing natural emollients including castor, jojoba, sunflower and avocado oils, candelilla and rice bran waxes, plus shea butter (all in all, it’s a mostly natural formula). When applied, it sort of magically enhances your lips’ natural tone, without being properly tinted – clever stuff.
The other scents are Chamomile d’Anjou, with bergamot alongside the signature chamomile, and The a la Menthe d’Agadir, which offers a whisper of Moroccan mint tea.
An absolute treat – for the eyes, nose and lips. And like we say, a cheaper indulgence than a pair of shoes.
Just.
