Beauty Bible Loves... Beauty Kitchen Pure Source Collagen SP14 duo

What is ‘Pure Source Collagen’ when it’s at home? The star ingredient in this new inside-out beauty duo – a serum to smooth in from the outside, and gummies to chew on – is a ‘blend of four pure and potent microalgae, cultivated in tanks that mimic the natural environment of the ocean.’

That is of great interest to vegans and vegetarians, in particular, because much of the collagen used in beauty products is a by-product of animal farming (pigs, chickens, fish). Beauty Kitchen’s microalgae, meanwhile, has actually been scientifically proven to deliver skin benefits (particularly in terms of skin smoothness and texture), noted by 95% of users.

What we know our readers want to know, though, is also: what are the products like to use? So, we’ve been trying these. It’s too early to see whether the (really rather delicious) Pure Source Collagen SP14 Gummies, are doing their thing (it’s almost always impossible to ‘unpick’ this from the effects of a topical product); alongside the vegan collagen complex, by the way, they also feature zinc, vitamin E, selenium and biotin. The Pure Source Collagen SP14 Serum itself is really comfortable to use, non-sticky and leaves skin soothed. And yes, we reckon after three weeks’ use that skin feels (and maybe looks) a bit smoother, too.

There are other reasons we want to flag up Beauty Kitchen to you is because of their sustainability drive, which is honestly impressive. Once you’ve used up a product, you can download a Freepost label to return empty packaging to the brand, who’ll ensure it’s recycled responsibly. (As a thank-you, they’ll give you a discount code off your next Beauty Kitchen purchase, on their website.) They will also plant a mangrove tree via Earthly, for every order over £10, and for more on their impressive sustainability policy, click here.

There’s only one little point we’d make about this range, which is that IT DOES NOT HAVE AN SPF14! The name, we reckon, is just a little confusing (it’s easy to miss that there’s no ‘F’ in there), so don’t rely on it shielding your skin. It’s the name of a molecule, not an indication of the fact it’ll protect your face from the sun.

Otherwise? Rather good, certified vegan stuff.
